No longer to soar free and proud
The sun obscured behind a cloud
My lips no longer spoke the Truth
Gone from my heart the Arabian Youth
All beauty and wisdom had fled my mind
On a couch of heedlessness I slumbered blind
No comfort could I take from anything
In this mortal world to which I cling
One parched day I looked up at the sky
And prayed for my soul take wing and fly
I reached beyond the cloud blocked sun
Hearing the Voice of the Peerless One
His words of love unleashed the pain
The blocking cloud wept a gentle rain
That cleansed my soul and set it free
On wings of love now I soar to Thee
One parched day I looked up from the dust
And found there a solace to cleanse the rust
From off my wings once shackled with fear
And found the Ancient Beauty still standing near
It was only I who had turned away
Busying myself with child’s play
Until one parched day cleansed of rust
I shook from my wings this world of dust
